Trust in God, But Lock Your Car

Posted on: March 21, 2007

Ada sebuah tulisan yang sangat berkesan buat saya, ditulis oleh H. Jackson Brown, Jr. dalam bukunya: Life’s Little Instruction Book, Vol. 2, diterbitkan di Nashville, Tennessee, oleh Rutledge Hill Press, tahun 1993. Sejumput excerpt-nya dimuat di majalah Reader’s Digest tahun 1997, waktu itu harganya masih Rp 4900,- (incl. PPN), dari situlah I took the moral from.

  1. Never laugh at anyone’s dreams.
  2. Accept a breath mint if someone offers you one.
  3. Rehearse a joke before telling it.
  4. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  5. Once in a while invite the person in line behind you to go ahead of you.
  6. Buy ladders, extension cords and garden hoses longer than you think you’ll need.
  7. Ask anyone giving directions to repeat them at least twice.
  8. Someone will always be looking at you as an example of how to behave. Don’t let him down.
  9. Be as friendly to the janitor as you are to the chairman of the board.
  10. When someone asks you a question you don’t want to answer, smile and say, “Why do you want to know?”
  11. Overestimate travel time by 15 percent.
  12. Don’t dismiss a good idea simply because you don’t like the source.
  13. Trust in God, but lock your car.
  14. No matter how old you get, hug and kiss your mother whenever you greet her.
  15. Be bold. Providence loves boldness and will assist you in ways you wouldn’t imagine.
  16. Call your Dad.

I say to number:

2_ [nggak cuma buat kamu yang suka makan jengkol aja, hehe, others pasti punya masalah halitosis]

5_ [this is very cool, patriotic, elegant, good leadership]

11_ [Jakarta? 50 percent or even doubled]

14_ [Mom is power]

16_ [I’m quite sure Adam called his Dad after reading this]

Well, coz we never stop learn, and there’s so many things we do have to learn…
